FILM “THE ONLY ONE/JEDINI” ABOUT VELINKO TRBIĆ PREMIERES
BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 11 /SRNA/ – The documentary film “The Only One/Jedini”, about Velinko Trbić, a hero and the most severely disabled war veteran of Republika Srpska, premiered this evening at the Palas cinema in Banja Luka.
The film was produced by the Republika Srpska Memorial Centre, with the support of the Audio-Visual Centre of Srpska. Screenwriter and director Denis Bojić emphasized that the Banja Luka premiere demonstrated what kind of hero Trbić is. “Velinko Trbić deserves absolutely all the attention of the Serb people, not only because of what he has endured, but because through his example he shows that the human spirit is absolutely stronger than anything else,” Bojić told the press. He expressed hope that the film would push boundaries when it comes to attention the society in Srpska gives to disabled war veterans. “The story of Velinko Trbić is the story of all people who, in one way or another, suffered in the war, managed to survive its horrors, therefore we must find a certain model to ensure that they have a presence in the media at the highest possible level. The film is one of those ways,” Bojić stressed. Marijana Krasić, the eldest daughter of Velinko Trbić, thanked Bojić for bringing her father’s story to the screen. “For me, my father is sacred, and this film is the crown of that,” Krasić said. The premiere was held in a packed hall of the Cineplexx “Palas”, and those attending the screening included, among others, ministers in the Republika Srpska Government, representatives of Srpska in the joint institutions of BiH, members of the Srpska National Assembly, clergy of the Banja Luka Diocese, representatives of the academic community of Srpska, representatives of the Banja Luka City, and members of the media community of Republika Srpska.
