READINESS TO CONTINUE COOPERATION IN SUPPORT OF ENERGY SECTOR
BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 12 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, and a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in BiH expressed today their mutual willingness and readiness to continue cooperation between the Ministry and BiH energy sector support project /EPA-Energy Policy Activity/.
The Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska announced that Đokić met with a delegation headed by Todd Bullock, Director of the U.S. Embassy Office Banja Luka, as well as with EPA project representatives, which is now in its second year of implementation. “During the meeting, mutual willingness and readiness were expressed to continue cooperation between the Ministry and this project, particularly in the fields of electricity and renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, development of the natural gas market and diversification of supply sources and routes, cybersecurity in the power system, as well as improvement of the regulatory framework,” the statement reads. The meeting participants also discussed simplifying procedures for issuing permits for the construction of energy facilities, digitalization of processes, and other priorities for the upcoming period. The interlocutors emphasized support for any initiative that could contribute to the further development of the energy and mining sectors in Republika Srpska, the statement added. The Ministry stressed that technical assistance in drafting future laws and by-laws that will further regulate these fields will be particularly significant. The upcoming Energy Summit in Neum was also discussed at the meeting.
