ISTOČNO NOVO SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 17 /SRNA/ – A large number of residents of Istočno Novo Sarajevo welcomed their fellow citizen Aleksandar Ivanović this evening, the boxer who won the UBF title in the cruiserweight division.

A spectacular reception featuring flares was organized in Gavrilo Princip Park for Ivanović, a professional boxer of Boxing Club “Slavija,”, who won the title in a bout against Colombian Francisco Cordero Last night in Tirana. “My opponent was a boxer who has been in this sport for more than 30 years. He sparred with world boxing greats, and it was an honor for me to even have the opportunity to fight him. This was a tough challenge for me,” Ivanović said. Ivanović stated that he is proud to have brought the title to his hometown, thanking the Municipality of Istočno Novo Sarajevo for its financial support throughout his boxing career, as well as everyone who contributed in any way to his success. He also emphasized that young “Slavija” boxer Nikolaj Radulović defeated an Albanian opponent in Tirana. “I congratulate him because he defeated a great boxer. For the first time, he felt that after hard work, success comes,” Ivanović said. Deputy Mayor of Istočno Novo Sarajevo Aleksandar Kostović congratulated Ivanović and Radulović on their great achievement. “This is a major success for the municipality, for the city, and for Republika Srpska,” added Kostović, who is also vice president of Boxing Club “Slavija.” He announced that a major boxing spectacle will also be organized in Istočno Novo Sarajevo.
