BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 19 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Education and Culture Borivoje Golubović and Serbian Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković opened an exhibition tonight in Banja Luka titled "The Culture of Serbs in Sarajevo 1468–1941", marking Sretenje, the Statehood Day of Republika Srpska and Serbia.

Golubović told reporters that the exhibition covers a period of five centuries, highlighting the extraordinary cultural heritage of Sarajevo Serbs. He noted that the exhibition was created in cooperation with the State Archives of Serbia, the Archives of BiH, the Archives of Republika Srpska, and the Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosnia, with support from the Ministries of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska and the Ministry of Culture of Serbia. Selaković said the exhibition spans from the mid-15th to the mid-20th century, emphasizing that over half a millennium, the Serb community in Sarajevo left significant cultural and historical legacies, both movable and immovable heritage. “This exhibition is especially important at a time when attempts were made to erase Serbs from Sarajevo, denying their existence in every possible way. But this exhibition shows how impossible that is,” Selaković said. He added that wherever one walks in Sarajevo, the contributions of prominent Serbian benefactors are visible, whether in sacred or secular architecture, or through the work of great artists and writers, all part of a people with a rich and enduring cultural legacy.
