ŽUPLJANIN: HAGUE MECHANISM HAS NEVER HAD MINIMUM EMPATHY FOR SERBS

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 20 /SRNA/ - The Head of the Organisation of Republika Srpska Army Senior Officers Slobodan Župljanin believes that the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague and its president, Graciela Santana, have never shown the minimum empathy for Serbs held in detention centres across Europe.

"On the contrary, they openly show a complete lack of understanding and intolerance, grossly violating basic human rights established by European and international human rights conventions," Župljanin told SRNA, after the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague declined to comment on whether there is a possibility for the first Republika Srpska President Radovan Karadžić to be allowed to attend the funeral of his wife, Ljiljana Zelen-Karadžić. According to Župljanin, Serbs in detention are only sent back in coffins, openly demonstrating their hatred toward the Serb people. "It is a divine, Christian, and human right and duty for family members to attend the last farewell of their loved ones. Unfortunately, the satanic Santana does not recognise this right for the Serbian Orthodox people," Župljanin pointed out. He also said that the law, justice, empathy, and Christian values are unknown to them. "The only thing we as Christians can believe in and hope for is that in the end, divine justice will catch up with them. Until then, we can pray for the peace of the souls of our loved ones, while the Serb heroes in The Hague detention centres will forever remain heroes of the Serb people," Župljanin concluded. The President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague, Graciela Gatti Santana, had no comment when asked by SRNA whether there is a possibility for Radovan Karadžić, the first president of Republika Srpska, to be temporarily released to attend the funeral of his wife. Radovan Karadžić, the first president of Republika Srpska, is serving his sentence in a British prison on the Isle of Wight. Ljiljana Zelen-Karadžić passed away on Wednesday, February 18, in Istočno Sarajevo at the age of 81. She will be buried today at the city cemetery Bare in Pale.
