ĐOKIĆ: SRPSKA PRODUCES 50 PERCENT GREEN ENERGY

LAKTAŠI, FEBRUARY 25 /SRNA/ - Petar Đokić, the Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, told SRNA that around 50 percent of the total energy produced in Srpska is green energy, and that the remaining 50 percent comes from thermal sources.

Đokić noted that the green transition is a process in which Republika Srpska has been engaged for more than ten years. "A great deal has been done in the legislative sphere, many regulations have been adopted, and at one point we were even regional leaders in terms of regulatory frameworks," said Đokić, who is participating in the panel "Green Entrepreneurship – The Path Toward Renewable Energy Sources" within the framework of the International Conference on Crafts and Entrepreneurship in Laktaši. He added that an operational process of implementing the green agenda, aimed at encouraging the development of renewable energy sources, is currently underway in Republika Srpska. He pointed to the importance of initiatives and gatherings that promote and open up opportunities for the engagement of women in entrepreneurship, which, as such, is the fastest-growing segment of the global economy. "Likewise, entrepreneurship should play an important role when it comes to the circular economy as well," the line minister assessed. Vera Škulić, a young entrepreneur from Serbia, said that she has been engaged in crop farming together with her father for six years and, more recently, in beekeeping as well. She emphasized that today, many women are choosing entrepreneurship, which she described as a great success. “I find motivation in young women, and together we are building a new platform in order to provide support to women entrepreneurs,” Škulić concluded. The Fourth International Conference on Crafts and Entrepreneurship of Republika Srpska, aimed at creating a better business environment for the development of this sector, brought together more than 300 entrepreneurs from Republika Srpska, the region, and countries of the European Union. In Republika Srpska, more than 26,000 independent entrepreneurs are currently operating, employing over 40,000 workers, a figure in line with the previous year.
