ANĐELKOVIĆ: SARAJEVO, AS THINGS ARE GOING, WILL ERECT MONUMENT TO HITLER
BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 27 /SRNA/ - Political analyst Dragomir Anđelković told SRNA that the Sarajevo City Council’s decision reinstalling the monument to Franz Ferdinand is truly incredible, and that the Sarajevo political elite, as things are going, may eventually erect a monument to Adolf Hitler.
Anđelković emphasized that it is a unique case in the world that a country once occupied erects a monument to the occupier. "This speaks to the political pathology within a large part of the Bosniak political leadership, which identifies with those who occupied BiH and artificially created the Bosniak identity as anti-Serb, i.e. as an identity opposed to their true roots," said Anđelković. He believes that the Bosniak elite, as things are going, might even erect a monument to Adolf Hitler in the future because he created the Handschar Division which, unfortunately, consisted of many Bosniaks. "What Sarajevo political elite representatives are doing is sad. It is the worst for their own people because they are actually showing that their deep identification lies with those who were defeated in both World Wars," emphasized Anđelković, who is also a historian. The Sarajevo City Council adopted yesterday the Party for BiH's initiative to reinstall the monument to Franz Ferdinand and Duchess Sophie, who were assassinated by Gavrilo Princip on June 28, St. Vitus Day, 1914. The monument was originally erected in 1917 on the third anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination, but was removed in 1919 after the liberation from Austro-Hungarian occupation and the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes.
