SRPSKA, AS GREATEST VICTORY IN 200 YEARS, BELONGS TO ALL SERBS
BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 27 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska National Assembly Spreaker Nenad Stevandić has said this evening in Belgrade that Republika Srpska, created in impossible circumstances and in peace, as the result of a tremendous struggle, represents the greatest victory in the past 200 years and, as such, belongs to the entire Serb people.
“Our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were adopted without a single bullet being fired. That was a demonstration of the will and determination of the Serb people. The bullet was fired at a Serb wedding guest on March 1, which will be celebrated in the FBiH as the ‘Day of BiH,’ but let everyone celebrate what suits them. We will celebrate peace, while some will celebrate something else,” Stevandić said. At the reception marking Republika Srpska Day and 34 years since the proclamation of its first Constitution, held at the Serbia’s Army House in Belgrade, he emphasized that Republika Srpska preserves tradition, does not change its faith, and stands firmly in defence of Serb identity. Stevandić stressed that Republika Srpska and its Constitution were adopted in peace, one of whose serious and courageous founders is President Milorad Dodik. He said that some have never forgiven Republika Srpska and its people for its creation, which resulted in several of its presidents over the past decades being overthrown, arrested, or removed from office, emphasizing that this tradition was ceased precisely by Dodik. “He was not overthrown, and after all the attempts, he is here with us today, which shows how strong Republika Srpska is,” Stevandić emphasized. Stevandić said that the source of this strength is unity and that Republika Srpska and Serbia stand together in everything. “If we say together, or simplify it as ‘for-one’, that is what we will be sooner or later,” Stevandić said. He thanked the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and especially Serbia’s Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić for their support at a time when Sarajevo issued arrest warrants for the Republika Srpska leadership. “Dačić then told us that we are free in Serbia. We wish him a speedy recovery. We send the message that we are together,” emphasized the Republika Srpska National Assembly speaker.
