ĆERANIĆ: POSSIBLE ATTACKS ON AMERICAN AND ISRAELI TARGETS IN EUROPE, TOO

BELGRADE, MARCH 4 /SRNA/ – The Dean of the Faculty of Security Sciences at the University of Banja Luka Predrag Ćeranić told SRNA that, given that Iran's top leaders have called on their networks to attack American targets anywhere, the attacks can be expected in Europe too, which is worrying for BiH residents.

Ćeranić stated that Iran has activated criminal structures and that American and Israeli targets could be attacked in Europe too. He emphasized that Republika Srpska has already taken appropriate measures and introduced additional protection for the Jewish Cultural Centre, the US Office in Banja Luka, and everything that, according to the assessment of the Ministry of Interior, is exposed to increased risk. Ćeranić said that there is a much more relaxed approach in the FBiH, which did not raise security measures, adding that "it is always like that until the first incident". "Given the wartime experience, when Iran was extremely present in BiH during and immediately after the war, both through its military forces and its intelligence component, we cannot be at ease," Ćeranić warned. He recalled that with the SFOR raid on Pogorelica, a mountain lodge near Sarajevo, a camp where terrorists were being trained was shut down, and instructors from the Iranian intelligence service VEVAK were detained at the time. "Under American pressure, the Sarajevo leadership severed those ties with Iran, but the example of the Minister of Defence in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, who received a high-ranking official from the Iranian Embassy, which triggered an American reaction, is enough to conclude that the official Sarajevo’s affection still exists," Ćeranić stated. Ćeranić expressed confidence that the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior will do everything within its authority to prevent any incident, but added that "concern remains".
