BUDIMIR: WE WILL DO EVERYTHING TO PREVENT POSSIBLE TERRORIST ATTACKS

BANJA LUKA, MARCH 6 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Interior of Republika Srpska Željko Budimir stated that the Ministry of Interior /MoI/ of Republika Srpska and its officers will do everything to prevent potential terrorist attacks, adding that protective measures have already been taken for facilities that could become targets, such as those belonging to Jewish communities.

"Such possibilities exist, and our task is to prevent them," Budimir said, recalling attacks that occurred in previous years in BiH, including the killing of a police officer in Zvornik. He added that BiH is a very complex and specific country in which there are certainly hidden radicalized cells that could be activated at a certain moment. "Are there certain connections with certain elements in Federation of BiH that date back to the war? Yes. Almost no terrorist attack in Europe has occurred without some connection to the so-called `Bosnian link` from the September 11 attacks to attacks in France and elsewhere," Budimir told reporters in Banja Luka. He noted that global terrorism carries this kind of interconnectedness, including links with organized crime, drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, and human trafficking. "That is why we are undertaking everything within the authority of public security to prevent it," Budimir concluded.
