KOŠARAC: PROJECT TO BUILD FIREFIGHTING WATER RESERVOIR IN TJENTIŠTE STARTS IN APRIL

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MARCH 7 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac pointed out that construction of a firefighting water reservoir at Tjentište is planned to begin in April, in order to be ready for the summer season.

Košarac said he was particularly proud of the project to build the reservoir at Tjentište, for which the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, in cooperation with UNDP, secured BAM 300,000. “In addition, we secured another BAM 32,000 for the preparation of project documentation,” Košarac wrote on the social network X. He noted that protecting the Tjentište site and Sutjeska National Park from fires is of crucial importance for the safety of the local population, as well as for preserving the unique natural values, rich biodiversity and cultural and historical heritage. Košarac stressed that the construction of the firefighting water reservoir represents an extremely important step in strengthening the protection system of Tjentište and Sutjeska National Park. According to him, the project plays a key role in prevention and rapid response to fires, which are one of the greatest threats to the park's natural resources and biodiversity. Košarac added that the construction of the reservoir will ensure a permanent and accessible water reserve for firefighting units, which will significantly increase efficiency in extinguishing fires and reduce the risk of the spread of wildfires. “The construction of the reservoir is not only an infrastructure solution, but also a message that preserving natural beauty and ensuring community safety are priorities that require constant support and engagement,” Košarac pointed out.
