OSTOJIĆ: SARAJEVO SERBS MADE A HUGE SACRIFICE FOR FREEDOM AND SRPSKA
ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MARCH 16 /SRNA/ - The Serb people of Sarajevo made a huge sacrifice for freedom and for Republika Srpska; during the war their path was one of Golgotha and suffering, but also of heroism and bravery, said this evening the Minister of Labor, War Veterans’ and Disabled Persons' Protection of Republika Srpska, Radan Ostojić.
Ostojić emphasized that on that path of heroism and bravery, Republika Srpska was resurrected. He stressed that the Serb people of Srpsko Sarajevo fought for the ideal of freedom, and after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, chose both freedom and Republika Srpska. “In November 1995, when peace came for the Serbs, another tragedy and sacrifice began for the Serb people of Sarajevo, which was once again transformed into bravery and heroism,” Ostojić said at the spiritual academy marking the 30th anniversary of the exodus of the Serbs of Sarajevo. He emphasized that when the Serbs of Sarajevo left their ancestral homes, they also left behind all their memories and property for the sake of Republika Srpska and freedom, adding that only a great people such as the Serbs could do something like that. He pointed out that a large number of Serbs from Srpsko Sarajevo came to Bijeljina, which is today their city. He said that Republika Srpska has lived in freedom and peace for 30 years, but that the Serb people have been exposed to unprecedented persecution to this day. “We must build unity and solidarity to preserve freedom, peace, and Republika Srpska,” Ostojić emphasized. During his address in Istočno Sarajevo, he stressed that it is a privilege to be in the place where visionaries put forward an idea that later turned into both form and substance - what today is Republika Srpska.
