KOŠARAC: SRPSKA PLACE OF INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE ON ENERGY ISSUES
TREBINJE, MARCH 25 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac officially opened the Energy Summit in Trebinje, which brought together participants from the region, stating that Republika Srpska is today a place of international dialogue on energy-related topics.
Košarac emphasized that a stable energy sector is the result of a clear policy by the political leadership of Republika Srpska, led by Milorad Dodik. He said that it was precisely Dodik who insisted on a responsible approach to the strategic challenges of energy stability and the preservation of energy sovereignty, both of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH /FBiH/. "President Dodik had a clear vision of how to direct all capacities so that the energy sector in Republika Srpska would be stable and secure," Košarac said at the opening of the three-day SET – Trebinje 2026 Energy Summit. Košarac said that results have also been achieved at the joint level despite certain slowdowns. "I can commend the efforts of entity-level energy ministers and their associates, as the text of the law on the regulator and the transmission of electricity has been harmonized, which is a condition for BiH to be exempted from the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism /CBAM/," Košarac said. The President of the Republika Srpska Chamber of Commerce Goran Račić stated at the opening ceremony that through international projects, efforts are being made to provide domestic businesses with knowledge, education, and support on the path toward green transition. "Just these days, we have launched a significant project funded by the EU and the Government of Germany, called Green Transition – Digitally Sustainable Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises," Račić said. Advisor to the Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Milan Aleksić, said that the energy sector is the foundation of energy security, economic stability, and long-term development of countries. He emphasized that Serbia has launched its largest investment cycle in the energy sector, with more than 15 billion Euros in investments planned by 2035. "Ensuring sufficient electricity supply is our most important task, along with the sustainable integration of new capacities, including those from renewable sources," Aleksić said.
