MINIĆ: WORK ON PREVENTING FUTURE SERB VICTIMS

BROD, MARCH 26 /SRNA/ – The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić has stressed today in Sijekovac near Brod that efforts must be made to ensure that there are as few Serb victims as possible in the future.

BROD, MARCH 26 /SRNA/ – The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić has stressed today in Sijekovac near Brod that efforts must be made to ensure that there are as few Serb victims as possible in the future.

"We must work to prevent repeat of the suffering our people endured in World War II, when we were taken to Jasenovac and killed by the roadside, in our homes and yards," Minić said. Addressing attendees after laying wreaths at the memorial cross marking 34 years since the first mass crime against Serbs in BiH, committed by regular Croatian forces and Muslim-Croat paramilitary units, Minić stressed that the suffering of the Serb people must never be forgotten. He underlined the need to continuously preserve the culture of remembrance of Serb victims and suffering. Minić reminded that these days Republika Srpska and Serbia are marking the anniversary of the NATO aggression against the Serb people, emphasizing that Serbs must never forget that all forces and misfortunes were once directed against them. "This obliges us to forgive to the extent that one can forgive, but a grandmother like Milja, who lost three sons in Sijekovac, cannot forgive, let alone forget?" Minić said. He stressed that this cannot be forgotten by others who lost family members in Sijekovac. Minić said that forgiveness is a Christian virtue, but it is equally Christian to ensure the survival and continuity of the Serb people. "We must understand that the Serb people must not be divided and that we have our loving Serbia behind us," Minić said.
