FORM MILITARY ALLIANCE OF SERBIA, HUNGARY AND SLOVAKIA TO PROTECT RESOURCES AND CITIZENS
BELGRADE, APRIL 6 /SRNA/ - Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia should form a military-security alliance, as they share common interests, face similar pressures, and have the same need to protect their resources, infrastructure, and citizens, Serbian League President Aleksandar Đurđev told SRNA.
Đurđev pointed out that yesterday's discovery of explosives in the area of Kanjiža, in close proximity to the gas pipeline connecting Serbia and Hungary, is not an isolated incident, but a clear, strong, and unequivocal message that energy security has become one of the key battlegrounds in the modern world. "Today, not only borders and territories are under attack, but also pipelines, resources, flows, and systems that keep states alive. Whoever controls energy controls stability. Whoever endangers energy endangers the state," Đurđev said. He stated that a series of incidents affecting Europe’s energy infrastructure are not coincidental, but represent a new form of warfare, adding that energy is no longer merely a market issue, but one of security, sovereignty, and survival. Đurđev noted that rising tensions between Hungary and Ukraine regarding gas transit are particularly concerning, as they threaten the energy security of the entire Europe. Another, even more important step, he said, would be for Hungary, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, to withdraw recognition of so-called Kosovo, thereby sending a strong, clear, and historic message of genuine friendship toward Serbia and confirming alliance through actions. "And precisely now, in the final week of the election campaign in Hungary. This would not be merely a political move, but an act with historical weight, one that would inscribe Orban into Serbian and Hungarian history as a statesman who had the courage to defend truth and Christian Europe, and a leader who followed principles rather than pressure," Đurđev stressed. Following a series of incidents involving energy infrastructure in Europe, Đurđev believes Serbia should establish a national energy security agency as an operational state center to protect critical infrastructure, prevent sabotage, analyze threats, coordinate military and civilian services, and respond before a crisis occurs. "Serbia must continue to strengthen the state, build alliances with those who share the same values, and protect its resources as a matter of survival," Đurđev underscored. He added that an attack on infrastructure is not an issue concerning a single company or system, but a direct blow to regional stability, praising Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić for preventing a potential catastrophe on the gas pipeline near Kanjiža, which could have had far-reaching consequences for supply, economy and security.
