ĐOKIĆ: ŠEPAK-NOVI GRAD GAS PIPELINE TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN FOUR YEARS
BANJA LUKA, APRIL 17 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić said that the signing of the contract for the design and construction of the Šepak-Novi Grad main gas pipeline marks the start of another highly significant infrastructure project, which is expected to be completed within a maximum of four years.
"We are implementing the project with our own funds, financing it through capital investment projects over the years. Its total value is BAM 1.029 billion," Đokić said at a press conference following the contract signing. He stressed that Republika Srpska should pursue modern energy development and become energy-compatible with neighboring countries that already have developed gas systems. "Upon completion of this project, Republika Srpska will gain the conditions to have gas as an energy source available to a large part of its territory. A total of 18 local communities will be connected to this pipeline, and there is also potential for it to serve as a transit route," Đokić stressed. He emphasized that this project confirms Republika Srpska's firm commitment to continue on the path of development. "We have a clear vision for the development of Republika Srpska. It is important to highlight the role of President Milorad Dodik in initiating and launching this project," Đokić said. He added that Republika Srpska is currently constructing several energy facilities in the electricity sector, along with multiple signed contracts for additional energy projects. "Today, Republika Srpska has ongoing energy projects worth more than BAM 6.5 billion," Đokić pointed out. He said the gas pipeline will provide a new opportunity for development, adding that the use of gas opens prospects for faster industrial growth in all areas where its use is possible. The framework agreement for the design and construction of the Šepak-Novi Grad main gas pipeline, worth BAM 1.029 billion, was signed today in Banja Luka. The contract was signed by Nedeljko Elek, director of Sarajevo-gas from Istočno Sarajevo, and Miloš Petrović of Konvar from Belgrade, in the presence of Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić and Minister Petar Đokić. Konvar is the lead company of the consortium that will carry out the works, which also includes Gastek Inđija, Radis Istočno Sarajevo, the Welding Institute Belgrade, and Jokić Invest Zvornik.
