BANJA LUKA, APRIL 21 /SRNA/ –Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan states Srpska appreciates Russia's principled stance regarding support for the Dayton Peace Agreement and is committed to a policy of peace, dialogue, and cooperation.

"We protect the Serb people with the Dayton Peace Agreement, therefore we thank you for your support. Republika Srpska is committed to a policy of peace, dialogue, and cooperation. We are glad because you protect us, as well as our status," Karan said at a press conference following a meeting between officials of Republika Srpska and a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko. Karan assessed that Srpska - Russia relations are very good, as confirmed by the Russian delegation's visit. "It is a great honour and pleasure for Republika Srpska and the Serb people to host a high-level delegation from Russia. We are connected not only by good diplomatic relations, but also by deep historical and identity roots of two Orthodox peoples who share a common anti-fascist struggle, culture, faith, and everything that unites friends and brothers," Karan said. He emphasized that the closeness of the two peoples will also be demonstrated during a visit to the Serb-Russian cathedral church. Karan stressed that the meeting once again confirmed the good relations between Republika Srpska and Russia, and that there is room for their further improvement in all areas. "Republika Srpska is committed to friendly relations with all those who respect our position," Karan stated.
