CONSTRUCTION OF THE BIJELJINA-BRČKO HIGHWAY SECTION HAS BEGUN

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 12 /SRNA/ - The construction of the Bijeljina-Brčko highway section, 17 kilometers long, began today in Velika Obarska, in the presence of officials of Republika Srpska.

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 12 /SRNA/ - The construction of the Bijeljina-Brčko highway section, 17 kilometers long, began today in Velika Obarska, in the presence of officials of Republika Srpska.



The start of construction was marked by the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the section. The ceremony in Velika Obarska near Bijeljina is attended by the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić, ministers in the Government of Srpska, SNSD President Milorad Dodik, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to BiH Li Fan, and the Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac. Also present are the Acting Director of the company Autoputevi Republike Srpske Radovan Višković, and the Deputy General Manager of the China Overseas Engineering Group company Wang Hongming. The contract for the construction of this section was signed at the end of last year with the China Overseas Engineering Group company, and the value of the project is BAM 274 million without VAT. The construction deadline is three years, and the works will be carried out by the China Overseas Group company and a member of this group, CTCE, with the financial support of leading Chinese banks. The Bijeljina-Brčko highway section is part of a future traffic connection that is supposed to connect Belgrade, Bijeljina, Brčko, Banja Luka, and Sarajevo. According to the previously presented project, the highway will have two traffic lanes with a dividing strip, an interchange with a toll station in the area of the Brčko District, as well as an interchange in the Bijeljina settlement of Ljeljenča which will enable connection with the Bijeljina-Sokolac expressway.
