MITIĆ: TODAY'S GEOPOLITICAL TRENDS FAVOR REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BELGRADE, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ - Professor Andrej Mitić stated that the recording of a phone conversation between President Milorad Dodik and SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović reveals the powerelessness of political Sarajevo, while also confirming the strengthening of Republika Srpska's international position and the need for even closer institutional ties between Serbia and Republika Srpska.

"This conversation primarily confirms that Izetbegović's resentment over the survival and development of Republika Srpska has reached its peak, and that from a position of his own powerlessness and legitimacy deficit, he is attempting to resort to threats of force," Mitić said. In addition, Mitić says, Izetbegović indirectly, through his display of a hysterical animosity toward Dodik personally, in fact acknowledges his work on the geopolitical strengthening of Republika Srpska, from the United States to Israel, which is an external form of legitimisation that Bakir Izetbegović can only dream of. "It is clear that political extremist Sarajevo has lost its momentum, and that the entire geopolitical dynamic is working in favor of Republika Srpska," Mitić stressed. He stated that the conversation reveals that Muslim groups that initiated the war in BiH have not abandoned their wartime goals, that they act rhetorically and practically contrary to the letter and spirit of the Dayton Agreement, and that they still fantasize about the abolition of Republika Srpska. "We are often not aware in Serbia of the pressure under which Republika Srpska survives and under which Milorad Dodik operates in defending national interests. All Serbian vital state and national forces should be placed in the function of defending Republika Srpska, at all levels. The message, to quote the first president, Radovan Karadžić, from his essay, is that `as long as the Serbian people exist, there will also be a casus belli`. Serbs are still considered guilty simply because they are still alive. We must therefore continue our national work without pause," Mitić pointed out. He said that Republika Srpska is endangered in many ways, but also demonstrates an impressive national and spiritual vitality, which, it seems, is lacking sometimes in Serbia. "But the Serbian motherland exists across the entire space of the Serbian integral homeland, of one indivisible Serbian people. Republika Srpska lies at the very centre of that homeland. We are speaking at a moment when the unitarisation of Bosnia, even through subtle football-related program statements, is being advocated, including on RTS, which is unacceptable," Mitić assessed. According to him, the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska should enter into even closer institutional, economic, and cultural cooperation to take the next step, as Romania, an EU member state, did yesterday, when it launched a parliamentary initiative for unification with Moldova. He assessed that the unification of Serbia and Republika Srpska is not only a logical, but also an ontological next stage in the development of the Serbian people.
