VUČIĆ: THE SERBIA’S ARMED FORCES ENTERING MAJOR CHANGES

BELGRADE, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ – The Serbia’s Armed Forces are becoming stronger and more modern and are entering a period of major changes, as demonstrated during today's live-fire exercise at the Pasuljanske Livade military training ground, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić said.

Vučić said he was confident that the public was satisfied with what they had seen during the demonstration of the capabilities of the Serbia’s Armed Forces' new and modernized equipment and systems. He stressed that it was evident the Armed Forces were entering a period of major transformation and that they would soon have special units with more women and young personnel capable of operating drones and unmanned vehicles. Vučić stressed that Serbia would soon need many more pilots because, in addition to the French Rafale fighter jets, other modern aircraft are expected to arrive, requiring the training of additional flight crews. He told the press that he was also satisfied with the staffing levels of the special forces, emphasizing that this was extremely important because a country's strength is measured by the strength of its special units, which often make the decisive difference in conflicts. Speaking about the procurement of weapons and equipment, Vučić said that under the current geopolitical circumstances this is sometimes a challenge, but at other times a comparative advantage for Serbia as a militarily neutral country. He added that Serbia would also need new hangars for the new aircraft, as well as for new weapons and ammunition. Vučić assessed that the participation of the Serbia’s Armed Forces in joint exercises with foreign militaries is of great importance, not only for the exchange of knowledge and experience, but also for building good relations and preserving peace.
