CVIJANOVIĆ: THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY
ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JUNE 29 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, stated that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will have the final say on the decision regarding the appointment of members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, which she declared to be destructive to the vital national interest of Republika Srpska after the decision was adopted at a Presidency session without a quorum.
"This is an issue of identity. I had to protect Srpska, and I will seek the position of the National Assembly of Srpska," Cvijanović said at a press conference in Istočno Sarajevo. She stated that this is a brutal usurpation of the constitutional rights of one of the three constituent peoples, and that she will submit a request to the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska tomorrow. Cvijanović said that neither she nor her representative attended the vote at the Presidency session on this decision and pointed out numerous violations of the Constitution and procedures. Cvijanović says that people in the BiH Presidency believe they can brutally and unlawfully outvote the Serb member of the Presidency and declare Serbian heritage as Bosnian-Herzegovinian. "The National Assembly of Republika Srpska will have the final say," Cvijanović said. She pointed out that the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Bećirović, who proposed the decision on appointing members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, did not even allow her to speak at today’s session. "It is a sensitive issue for every people, which we have discussed before," Cvijanović said, adding that Bećirović decided to deal with this issue again after 20 years by outvoting others. She stated that the intention was to turn it into a circus and to bring foreigners back into this process. "Bećirović has also taken it upon himself to interpret what Bosnia and Herzegovina’s foreign policy is," Cvijanović said.
