BREŽANI MASSACRE CASE LINKED TO BOSNIAK POLITICAL INFLUENCE OVER BiH JUDICIARY
BELGRADE, JUNE 30 /SRNA/ – The President of the Association of Serbs from the Region Miodrag Linta stressed that it is an obligation never to forget the massacre of 32 Serb civilians in the village of Brežani in the municipality of Srebrenica, which took place 34 years ago and for which no one has been held accountable, adding that it is completely clear that the Prosecutor's Office and Court of BiH are not professional institutions but rather instruments of Bosniak politics.
Linta said that a hypocritical policy of double standards continues to prevail, under which Serbs are labeled aggressors and criminals, while Bosniaks are portrayed as liberators and victims. He stressed the importance of a persistent and systematic struggle for the truth about the nature of the war in BiH and the mass suffering of the Serb people. He reminded that on June 30, 1992, in the early morning hours, more than 1,000 armed Muslims from Srebrenica entered the undefended village of Brežani, leaving behind what he described as monstrous atrocities and destroyed Serb property. According to Linta, the village was mostly inhabited by elderly men, women and children, and the victims were killed in unimaginable ways, including mutilation, burning, crucifixion, slaughter and dismemberment. He said that Vidoje Lazić was crucified, while his 80-year-old mother Dostana and blind sister Kristina were burned alive in their home, according to a statement from the Association of Serbs from the Region. Outside the house, Milisav Rankić and his sons Miroslav and Dragoslav were slaughtered, and three children were also killed. All houses in the village were looted and burned and the perpetrators destroyed all monuments in the cemetery and damaged some graves. "These facts clearly indicate an intent to completely destroy the Serb people in this area. For this senseless crime against Serbs, as well as many others in Podrinje and beyond, no one has been held accountable before the Hague Tribunal or the judiciary of BiH, despite numerous pieces of evidence and witness statements," Linta stressed. A memorial service for the 32 killed Serbs from Brežani is being held today in the village.
