STEVANOVIĆ: ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS SIGNIFICANT FOR SRPSKA'S DEVELOPMENT
SOKOLAC, JULY 7 /SRNA/ - Serious investment in road infrastructure is one of the key prerequisites for the development of the economy and business sector of Republika Srpska, Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska Zoran Stevanović said after the official launch of the construction of the third lane across Romanija.
"We are entering a period of significant activities and the implementation of a large number of projects that will improve the road network in this area," Stevanović told reporters. Stevanović said that numerous projects would be implemented in the coming period, including the construction of the Brod na Drini–Šćepan Polje section, the bridge over the Tara River on the Foča–Šćepan Polje route, and the construction of the remaining 14 kilometres of this road. "The rehabilitation of the bridge over the Bistrica River is also underway, as it represents one of the biggest traffic bottlenecks on the Sarajevo–Foča route," Stevanović said. He called on contractors to invest in equipment and strengthen their staffing capacities, stressing that, in the field of infrastructure in Republika Srpska, there would be work in the coming period for all those capable of carrying it out in a high-quality and responsible manner. The contractor for the construction of the third lane across Romanija is the company Romanijaputevi, whose director Mirko Pandurević expressed satisfaction that the company had been engaged in implementing such an important infrastructure project. "We have the necessary capacities to carry out the works to a high standard and within the planned deadlines," Pandurević noted. Pandurević stressed that the company was ready to fulfil its obligations, adding that the implementation of the third-lane construction project across Romanija was particularly important to them because they had been maintaining this section of the road for years. "I am particularly pleased about this third lane because I have spent many years working on this road, both in summer and winter maintenance, and I know how much it means for safety and smoother traffic flow," Pandurević said. Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić and President Milorad Dodik also attended the official launch of works on the 1,871-metre third lane for slow-moving vehicles on the Podromanija–Sumbulovac section of the main road.
