GENERAL VISITED BY SERBIAN EMBASSY REPRESENTATIVES, FALSE CLAIMS OF HIS DEATH SPREAD ONLINE

BELGRADE, JULY 9 /SRNA/ - General Ratko Mladić, who has been under palliative care at the detention hospital in The Hague for more than two years, was visited by representatives of the Embassy of Serbia in the Netherlands, and his health condition has not changed, his son Darko Mladić told SRNA.

He pointed out that a false report claiming that General Mladić had died appeared on social media last week from unknown sources. "Someone is spreading this for some reason; I do not know why. But I have already become accustomed to it," Darko said, adding that the media did not report on it because they understood that it was fake news. Darko pointed out that representatives of the Embassy of Serbia in the Netherlands visited the general last week and that they visit him regularly at least once a month, and sometimes more often, so that they can inform Belgrade about his condition. He stated that there have been no changes in that regard and that the general's health condition has stabilized somewhat, but that the important thing is that he does not suffer any new strokes. "I spoke with him a little today. He has great difficulty speaking, but his condition is stable for now. Essentially, there is nothing particularly new. Those strokes are very risky for him. The fact that he had those two in April and May, and that he survived them, is a miracle," Mladić said. The general's son noted that there are still no details regarding the reports of the Serbian neuropsychiatrist who recently visited the general at the detention hospital in The Hague. General Ratko Mladić suffered several strokes while in the Hague detention facility, suffers from kidney disease, and he also had a heart stent implanted. He has high blood pressure and diabetes, but he never received the necessary care from The Hague, nor was he released for treatment. He spent the past two years bedridden at the detention hospital in The Hague, and after suffering two strokes in April and May, his already poor condition deteriorated dramatically. Doctors, both from The Hague and Serbia, assessed that General Mladić is in the terminal stage of his illness, with a very limited life expectancy.
