POPOVIĆ: ARRIVAL OF AMERICAN INVESTIGATORS OFFERS HOPE FOR JUSTICE FOR SERB WAR VICTIMS

BANJA LUKA, JULY 22 /SRNA/ - Academician Vitomir Popović pointed out that Muslims in the Federation of BiH have remained silent about the arrival of American investigator-prosecutors in Derventa and the investigation into war crimes, but that their presence offers hope for justice for Serb victims of the war in BiH.

"Thanks to the new US administration led by President Donald Trump, this process has been launched, and things are slowly changing, but it will take a considerable amount of time," Popović, who holds a doctorate in legal sciences, told SRNA. Popović said that the media in the FBiH had also remained silent about the arrival of the American investigators. "Muslims are also silent about the monstrous crimes committed against Serbs in Srebrenica, Bratunac, the Bosnian Krajina, as well as about the crimes committed by Croats," Popović stressed. He assessed that it was important for US President Donald Trump to remain in office until the end of his term, because the remaining tentacles of the so-called "deep American state" are still present, a concept that implies only the United States as a great power to which everyone else is subordinate. Serb camp survivors Nedeljko Blagojević and Predrag Nikolić from Derventa, who survived torture in the notorious Rabić camp in Derventa in 1992, will testify today before American investigators and prosecutors. During the past Defensive-Patriotic War in Derventa, at a time when the Army of Republika Srpska had not yet even been formed, Croatian and Muslim forces attacked the local Serb population. Camps for Serbs were established, the most notorious of which were the one in the Army Hall and the one at the Rabić site. A total of 120 Serbs were detained in the Rabić camp, while several hundred Serb civilians passed through the camps in Derventa overall.
