SHOTS FIRED NEAR THE US CONSULATE IN TORONTO

TORONTO, JULY 27 /SRNA/ - An unidentified person opened fire near the US Consulate in Toronto, police said.

"Near the US Consulate building on University Avenue, police heard multiple shots fired from a firearm," the Toronto Police Operations Centre said in a post on X. According to the statement, there were no injuries, and a white vehicle was seen leaving the scene of the incident at high speed. Police do not have a description of the suspect. The consulate was also targeted in an attack on March 10, when two people fired several shots at the diplomatic mission. The incident led Canadian police to classify the attack as a major incident in terms of a threat to national security. Two people were later arrested in connection with the case.
