SELAK: MINISTER ŠKOBIĆ SENT INSPECTORS TO ZENICA PRISON OVER INFORMATION ABOUT ELFETA VESELI
BANJA LUKA, JULY 29 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Justice Minister Goran Selak told SRNA that Federation of BiH Justice Minister Vedran Škobić had sent an inspection team to the Zenica Penitentiary to establish all the circumstances surrounding reports that convicted war criminal Elfeta Veseli was being granted prison leave and other out-of-prison privileges.
Selak vehemently condemned the possibility that Veseli was using such privileges and moving freely in the municipality of Ilidža. "I spoke with Minister Škobić, who told me he had sent an inspection team to determine the circumstances related to this case," Selak said. He expressed concern over publicly disclosed information regarding the status of a person serving a prison sentence for the brutal murder of 12-year-old Slobodan Stojanović. "As justice minister, but above all as a human being and a parent, I believe it is absolutely unacceptable and deeply disturbing to the public, and especially to the victim's family, that a person convicted of the most serious war crimes against civilians, committed against a helpless child, is being granted privileges that effectively undermine the court's verdict," Selak stressed. He called for an urgent, professional and responsible response from all relevant institutions in the Federation of BiH. "I expect an urgent, professional and responsible response from all relevant institutions in the Federation of BiH to examine all the circumstances and determine the criteria based on which this was made possible. I also demand that the public be transparently informed about the justification for such decisions by the prison administration," Selak said. He stressed that justice for victims and their families must never be subject to administrative manipulation or unjustified privileges within correctional institutions. "There must be no privileges or preferential treatment within the correctional system. It is our duty to give citizens a sense of security and, through the effective work of our institutions, demonstrate that the law applies equally to everyone, without exception," Selak concluded. Association of Patriots of Republika Srpska President Slobodan Župljanin said that, by all appearances, the monster woman Elfeta Veseli, who was convicted of the brutal murder of Serbian boy Slobodan Stojanović from Donja Kamenica, was on a lengthy, state-funded rehabilitation rather than serving her sentence in Tuzla Prison for the most serious criminal offences. Župljanin told SRNA that the Association of Patriots of Republika Srpska had obtained information from prison sources indicating that Veseli was being rewarded with exceptional privileges. After spending 10 years evading justice, Elfeta Veseli is serving a 13-year prison sentence in Tuzla for the brutal murder of boy Slobodan Stojanović.
