ĐURIĆ: HAN PIJESAK HOSTS FIRST MAJOR GATHERING OF VETERANS' FAMILIES IN 30 YEARS
HAN PIJESAK, AUGUST 30 /SRNA/ - Han Pijesak Mayor Slobodan Đurić has said today that it is an honor for the municipality to host the gathering of families of fallen soldiers, war veterans with disabilities and demobilized soldiers of the Army and Police of Republika Srpska, stressing the historical importance of the Sarajevo-Romanija region in the creation and defense of Republika Srpska.
Đurić said that Han Pijesak had waited 30 years for such a gathering and thanked everyone who had shown respect for the municipality and enabled it to host the gathering titled "We Know Why!" "Perhaps it is presumptuous of me to say this, but the creation of Republika Srpska also began in this area. In Crna Rijeka, where the Main Headquarters was located, and at Krama, at the 'Jela' motel, many documents were signed, important decisions were made and many battles were fought," Đurić said. He stressed that the defense of Republika Srpska is inseparably linked to Han Pijesak, which was also the headquarters of the Main Headquarters of the Army of Republika Srpska and a place of particular historical significance. "That is why it is an honor for us to gather here and remember the struggle, sacrifice and unity that were built into the foundations of Republika Srpska, and to remind ourselves of the importance of preserving it," Đurić stressed. He noted that, as the child of a police officer who was killed in 1993, he fully understands the families who experienced the same suffering. "I was left without my father at the age of 16 during those difficult years that we went through together. So I completely understand the children, mothers and parents who went through the same suffering," Đurić said. The son of a fallen soldier, Branislav Šušnjak, expressed his deep respect for the families of fallen soldiers and police officers of Republika Srpska, war veterans with disabilities, generals, officers, non-commissioned officers, commanders, soldiers and police officers. "On my own behalf, and on behalf of the families of fallen soldiers, as the son of your fallen comrade, I say clearly and loudly - thank you!" Šušnjak said. He extended particular greetings to families who are still searching for the remains and bones of their loved ones, stressing that for them the war is still not over. Šušnjak expressed his respect for all the suffering and pain that veterans' families have endured since the beginning of the war.
