INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY MUST NOT LIMIT ITSELF TO CONDEMNING ETHNIC CLEANSING OF SERBS

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 6 /SRNA/ — After the latest demolition of Serbian-owned properties on the shores of Lake Gazivode, Miodrag Linta, president of the Association of Serbs from the Region, said that the international community must not limit itself to declarative condemnations while, on the ground, Serbian families face severe pressure and ethnic cleansing of Serbs is being conducted.

He pointed out that the EU, KFOR, EULEX and other international representatives continue to take no concrete action against what he described as the terror of Albin Kurti's government, calling for all property disputes to be resolved strictly in accordance with the law and with full respect for the rights of Serbian property owners. He said it was particularly troubling that, among the six buildings demolished in the village of Rezala, the Holy Trinity community hall was also destroyed. The hall had been built by local residents two decades ago and was used for community gatherings and celebrations of the village patron saint's day. Linta reminded of a total of 17 Serbian-owned properties that have been demolished so far, while demolition orders have also been served on homeowners in the village of Kovača, who are living in fear, according to a statement from the association. "It is completely clear that this is a deliberate and continuous assault on the Serbian people, their property, traditions and their right to remain on their centuries-old homes in Kosovo and Metohija," Linta concluded.
