KOVAČEVIĆ: WE WILL NOT BE CARRIED AWAY BY ELECTION VICTORY
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ - SNSD will not allow its election victory to go to its head, which is why party leader Milorad Dodik has invited opposition representatives to work with SNSD, party spokesman Radovan Kovačević said today.
"All those who had called for division and brought harshly divisive rhetoric into our society and political scene were not supported by the citizens. That is not something that has the support of the people of Republika Srpska," Kovačević said. He said the support of the people of Republika Srpska had gone to political forces that called for unity, foremost among them Dodik, SNSD, the party's candidates and its coalition partners. "We said that we must stand together in one front to protect the interests of Republika Srpska and the Serb people and fight for a better life for every person in Republika Srpska," Kovačević said. He said it was particularly important to emphasize Dodik's role. "It is very important to highlight the role of Dodik, who was not a candidate because of the circus involving Christian Schmidt. Dodik put himself forward because he recognized that their goal, at a time when they were genuinely strong, was an attack on Republika Srpska. They set a trap that he knew he could not avoid, so he offered them the name Milorad Dodik. They went after Milorad Dodik, while Republika Srpska gained time," Kovačević told RTRS. He said SNSD Organizational Secretary Igor Dodik had scored a major election victory. "You could not open a single platform without Draško Stanivuković popping up. Igor Dodik had no platform, no billboard, no TV commercial, he did not claim to be the 'prime minister,' and yet he received 5,000 more votes than Stanivuković," Kovačević stressed.
