GRABOVAC CALLS FOR REPUBLIKA SRPSKA-LEVEL INSTITUTE FOR MISSING PERSONS
BROD, MARCH 31 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska should form its own institute for missing persons, as families of the fallen and missing do not need the existing institution at the BiH level nor a new Collegium of Directors currently being selected, Marko Grabovac, President of the Organization for Search for Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians from Brod, told SRNA.
Grabovac stressed that the process of searching for missing Serbs is at a complete standstill and that the BiH Institute for Missing Persons is doing nothing to accelerate it. He believes Republika Srpska should not have a member in the Institute's Collegium of Directors, noting that the current composition has achieved nothing beyond personal interests and secure salaries. He added that the families he represents are also dissatisfied with the work of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and Court in prosecuting war crimes committed against Serbs during the past war. “It is unacceptable that the judiciary at the BiH level, despite numerous material and video evidence, as well as witness testimonies, is unwilling to prosecute crimes, thereby diminishing the scale of crimes committed against Serbs,” Grabovac pointed out. The call for applications for new members of the Collegium of Directors of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons has closed, with a total of 11 applications received, and interviews with candidates are underway. The Institute's Steering Board is responsible for appointing the members of the Collegium and announced the public call last month. The mandates of current members Nikola Perišić, Marko Jurišić and Saliha Đuderija expired last year, and they are currently serving as acting directors.
