LAW FACULTY TO BE UPGRADED WITH GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
PALE, APRIL 10 /SRNA/ – The Government of Republika Srpska has decided to finance the reconstruction of the Law Faculty building at the University of Istočno Sarajevo, with implementation expected this year and a total value of BAM 700,000 the institution's dean Goran Marković told SRNA.
"The time has come to renovate the building in order to improve energy efficiency, reduce heat and electricity consumption and costs and provide more comfortable working conditions for students and staff," Marković stressed. He noted that the activity had been planned for several years, during which efforts were made to secure the necessary funds, which was successfully achieved last year. "Although the line ministers changed in the meantime, continuity of support for this project was not lacking, and we expect it to be implemented during this year. Improving the building's appearance is important, but it is not the primary reason for the reconstruction," Marković said. He expects that, in the year when the Law Faculty of the University of Istočno Sarajevo marks its 80th anniversary, the building will gain a new exterior appearance, but more importantly, improved and more efficient heating and overall energy consumption solutions. The situation at the Law Faculty in Pale is excellent, and this higher education institution has recorded steady enrollment growth over the past three years, with last year's intake about 120 percent higher than three years earlier. Marković explained that the faculty ranks second at the University of Istočno Sarajevo in terms of student enrollment, immediately after the Faculty of Medicine, noting that interest in law studies is growing and that the perception of limited employment opportunities for law graduates is diminishing. "Graduates from our faculty find jobs very quickly, especially those willing to build their careers step by step, starting from entry-level legal positions. Employers rate the quality of our graduates very highly," Marković said.
