PETRONIJEVIĆ: LITTLE SLOBODAN IS BEING KILLED AGAIN

BELGRADE, AUGUST 6 /SRNA/ - Elfeta Veseli committed one of the most brutal killings by murdering the boy Slobodan Stojanović, and by allowing her to freely move outside Tuzla prison while serving an already lenient sentence, the victim is being killed all over again, lawyer Goran Petronijević told SRNA.

Petronijević said that such treatment of Veseli amounted to discrimination against the victim, which is one of the most serious forms of discrimination that can occur. "Discrimination against a defendant in criminal proceedings, including a convicted person serving a prison sentence, is something that should not happen, but it is far less serious than discrimination against the victim. In this case, Slobodan is effectively being killed again," Petronijević said. He recalled that the killing of 12-year-old Slobodan, who returned from a refugee convoy to rescue his dog, was one of the most brutal murders committed during the Defensive-Patriotic War. Petronijević said that this crime remains one of the most serious crimes committed against a child, describing it as unprecedented, but that prison authorities in Tuzla treat Veseli as an ordinary inmate. "It cannot be ruled out that the privileges she is being granted are connected to the environment in which she is serving her sentence, an environment where, if not openly, then tacitly, the crime she committed is being condoned," Petronijević said. He pointed out that there are no recorded cases of Serbs convicted of serious crimes, though nowhere near as grave as this one, being granted any prison privileges. "On the contrary, they served their sentences under the harshest conditions, and even today Foča prison, as well as prisons across Europe, are full of them," Petronijević said. Elfeta Veseli, the killer of 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanović, has been using prison leave privileges since September 2024, the Tuzla Correctional Facility confirmed to SRNA. Veseli was initially sentenced by the Court of BiH to 10 years in prison, but the Appeals Chamber of the same court increased the sentence to 13 years for the war crime against the civilian population. She has been in detention since September 2016, and her sentence is due to expire in 2029.
