CVIJANOVIĆ: REPUBLIKA SRPSKA IS PREPARING FOR NEW GLOBAL CHALLENGES
BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 16 /SRNA/ – Željka Cvijanović, the Serb BiH Presidency member,, said that, due to the current situation in the world, Republika Srpska is preparing, building contacts and partnerships.
Cvijanović said that Republika Srpska must open itself up, pursue development and follow the course in which the world is moving. “We are buried under political hatred and attempts to take something away from us. We must defend ourselves against these attacks, and we need people who understand where the planet and the economy are heading, what kind of education we need for future generations, how to preserve the family, our identity and the values which our society is based on,” Cvijanović said in an interview with RTRS. She said that the public discourse in the FBiH is not dominated by topics on roads, bridges, schools, kindergartens and other infrastructure being built, but is rather focused on what politicians from Republika Srpska have done. “We must not fall into that trap. Every municipality matters to us, as does how every individual is living. I am proud when I see that salaries, pensions and agricultural subsidies are increasing, as are allocations for families, veterans and other categories. I believe that /Republika Srpska Prime Minister/ Savo Minić is doing an excellent job,” Cvijanović said. When it comes to international situation, Cvijanović pointed out that international institutions have failed. “Diplomacy has gone quiet, which is why the situation in Europe is the way it is. You cannot say that you do not want to talk to someone, while wanting to achieve the best solution,” Cvijanović stated. She said that the goal of diplomacy is precisely to reach a solution through talks. “Some countries have an exclusive stance and do not want to talk, which is the problem we have with our colleagues in the FBiH. They say they do not want to talk to us; so, you do not have to, but then the country cannot move forward, you cannot reach good solutions,” Cvijanović explained. According to her, Republika Srpska’s priorities are to preserve itself as a strong autonomy that can manage the processes for which it is competent.
