32 YEARS OF CRIMES AGAINST SERB CIVILIANS IN GORNJI MAGAŠIĆI MARKED
BRATUNAC, JULY 20 /SRNA/ - Today, in Gornji Magašići near Bratunac, 32 years have been marked since Muslim forces from Srebrenica invaded this village and killed eight Serb civilians, the youngest victim of which was a seventeen-year-old pregnant woman.
The crime, which members of the Muslim forces from Srebrenica and the surrounding villages committed on this day in 1992 in Gornji Magašići near Bratunac, is one of the most horrific in terms of cruelty, because all the victims were civilians killed in their homes. In the middle of the day, six women and two old men were massacred in family houses, and the village was looted and burned. The oldest victim was 85-year-old Blagoje Popović, and the youngest was seventeen-year-old pregnant Ljiljana Ilić. For this, as well as for all other mass crimes committed against Serbs in the Bratunac municipality, no one was held accountable or prosecuted. Aleksandar Lončarević's sister, married Ljiljana Ilić, who was pregnant, was killed 32 years ago in Gornji Magašići, on the doorstep. "32 years have passed, and justice for the murder of my sister and other civilians in Gornji Magašići is still not on its way.. The way BiH judiciary works and the kind of attitude it has towards Serb victims, that is, cases involving crimes against Serbs, it seems that we will not get justice in the end," Lončarević said. According to him, both the victims and the killers are known, but the judiciary allegedly still needs something, but they do not explain what. "It is obvious that this is an obstruction for which, unfortunately, there is no sanction or remedy in this country. They were killed by my first neighbors and my parents died in hope and disbelief waiting for justice, which it seems, I will not see either, because truth and justice do not suit judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina," says Lončarević.
