CONCERN FOR KARADŽIĆ'S SAFETY
BELGRADE, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ - Lawyer Goran Petronijević told SRNA that he fears for the safety of the first president of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, because strange things continue to happen in the British prison on the Isle of Wight, where he is serving his sentence, which causes increasing fear for Karadžić's security.
Petronijević stressed that everything that is happening raises serious doubts because it indicates that it is not only about Karadžić's status and pressure, but about something much more serious, and that is a great danger for his safety. He announced that he would inform the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts in the Hague about everything that Karadžić told him over the phone about what was happening to him in prison. Pointing out that Karadžić has not yet found out why they recently took him to the hospital in the dead of night to take his blood, Petronijević revealed that the first president of Srpska has not yet received the results of the analysis, nor will he receive them, because they refuse to give them to him, denying him even the right to see a doctor. "We are not managing to solve anything. We are completely hitting the wall. We have a serious suspicion that many things are happening that are not as they should be, and to be honest, we are also very cautious and afraid every day," Petronijević said. According to him, the problem is that Karadžić is not getting an explanation about what happened to him. "They cannot deny that he was taken to the hospital when they took his blood, but there are no results yet, nor any answer," Petronijević pointed out. He also said that two days after that, a guard whom he did not know came to Karadžić to inform him that they were waiting for him on the first floor for an interview. "He got ready and came to the first floor, but there was no one there. When he addressed the guard on duty, he told him that they had no idea what it was about," said Petronijević. When asked how it is possible that they hide his findings from Karadžić, Petronijević replied that they always find some justification, and that they respond to all questions about what happened as if it never happened. "One of those excuses is that Karadžić left the hospital on his own accord when blood was drawn, which is not true. He asked to see a doctor. He didn't see a doctor, but only the technical staff. They told him that he should stay, and he replied that until he sees a doctor, he will not stay, because it is unusual to drive someone to the hospital at midnight," Petronijević said. Karadžić was placed in prison on the British Isle of Wight, where he is serving the life sentence he was sentenced to by the Hague Tribunal. It is a prison that has a reputation as one of the worst prisons in Great Britain and does not meet the numerous conditions stipulated by the standards in most European countries. His daughter Sonja Karadžić Jovičević told SRNA earlier that Karadžić was taken to the hospital without any explanation and the right to contact his family, and warned that they are creating an alibi in Britain and doing something extremely suspicious.
