GENERAL MLADIĆ’S HEALTH DETERIORATING
BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - General Ratko Mladić has been being hospitalized in the prison hospital in Scheveningen for eight months lacking the conditions for adequate medical treatment and his health is deteriorating daily, his son Darko Mladić told SRNA.
"He has been in their detention hospital in Scheveningen since April and is getting weaker and weaker. With their care, there is no hope that he will get out of bed," said Darko Mladić. He pointed out that General Mladić has neurological, cardiovascular and urological problems, which are progressively getting worse and more complicated. He said that the family is very worried, because he is already at the stage where he cannot speak; when he is in a sitting position, his head falls, he cannot hold it upright. "He is getting weaker and weaker both physically and mentally. He can't speak properly now, the situation is alarming," said Darko Mladić. He pointed out that General Mladić's health is constantly deteriorating,, he has also got a wound on his leg due to the inability to move and the lack of physical therapy, because of which they wanted to amputate the leg. "Month by month he is deteriorating before our eyes - now it has come to the point where he has no strength at all. He is literally tied to a wheelchair and a bed not being able to withstand a visit properly," said Darko Mladić. According to him, the only thing they cured him of was an infection on the decubitus alcer wound, which they previously said could not be tretaed and that his leg would have to be amputated. "But, luckily, we avoided that, however, apart from that, he is getting weaker and weaker," said Darko Mladić. THIS YEAR, THE HAGUE REJECTED TWICE TO ENABLE GENERAL MLADIĆ'S MEDICAL TREATMENT IN SERBIA Despite everything, two weeks ago, The Hague rejected the family's request to allow General Mladić medical treatment in Serbia, for the second time this year since April. The court rejects requests for medical treatment in Serbia, even though, as Darko Mladić points out, it is clear that General Mladić is getting worse and worse there, and that they are not able to improve his health, which continues to deteriorate. "There will surely be a new demand - we have no choice, we have to fight, that's our only way," said Darko Mladić.
