BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 5 /SRNA/ - At the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the non-resident Ambassador of Israel to BiH, Peleg Galit, officially opened on Thursday evening the sculpture exhibition "Figures in Motion," created by the famous French artist Edgar Degas.

Dodik emphasized that this exhibition speaks of the greatness of Israel and the Jewish people, as well as their significant contribution to art. "It was unlikely that such a prestigious exhibition would be held in Banja Luka, but we made it happen together with people from Israel, for which we are grateful. This is proof of the good cooperation between our two peoples and states. I believe many of our people, guests, and tourists will have the opportunity to visit such an important exhibition," said Dodik. The non-resident Ambassador of Israel to BiH and Albania, Galit Peleg, has said that art is a bridge that always connects nations and people, and expressed gratitude to the institutions of Republika Srpska for hosting the exhibition, emphasizing that the citizens should enjoy it. Željka Cvijanović, the Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, expressed her pleasure in having Republika Srpska host this remarkable exhibition, which holds great artistic significance, saying that the exhibition is a reflection of Srpska's long-standing friendship with Israel, which will certainly continue. “The exhibition will be open until the end of January, offering a great opportunity for the people of Banja Luka and the rest of Republika Srpska to come and see the works of the great artist,” said Cvijanović, adding that Srpska seeks good relations with Israel and wishes peace, security, and freedom for the Jewish people. Sarita Vujković, the director of the cultural institution, has said that the exhibition was organized to mark the 190th anniversary of the birth of the renowned French artist, thanks to the initiative of Amir Gross Kabiri, the director of the MTA Foundation from Israel. "This is one of our most significant exhibitions, and it is a special honor and recognition for this institution. The exhibition was realized in collaboration with the Hub of Fine Arts Gallery from Mostar and is part of the vast collection of the MTA Foundation, which made it possible for Edgar Degas' sculptures to be presented in Republika Srpska for the first time," Vujković told reporters. The exhibition was opened in the presence of the highest officials of BiH, Republika Srpska, and numerous art lovers. Before the exhibition opening, a reception for officials and media was held in collaboration with the Israeli Embassy for BiH, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.
