SERBS HAD CONSTITUTION IN 1992 AND AGREED TO DAYTON

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 28 /SRNA/ - Historian Lazar Škobo told SRNA that the Constitution of 1992 represents the legal formulation of the will and determination of the Serb people to survive in the area where they have lived for a millennium and a half and emphasized that, despite all the suffering, the Serb people agreed to the concession that resulted in Dayton.

"Our people, who held a much larger territory than the one formulated in the peace agreement from Dayton, agreed to that Dayton Accords, but again for the sake of peace. We see that they are telling us again now that even that is not enough, that they are again asking for our concessions," Škobo said. According to him, Republika Srpska is the minimum that the Serb people could agree to, given all their history and suffering, and that this is the last concession that could be made in this area. "The Constitution is nothing more than an expression of that aspiration that, despite all the suffering and sacrifices, we survive and last," Škobo added. He reminded that the Serbian people lost 1.3 million lives in the First World War, more than a million in the Second World War, and the largest number of victims was in the area west of the Drina River, in Jasenovac and other killing grounds. The Assembly of the Serbian People of bIh adopted the Constitution on February 28, 1992, which was unanimously passed on the basis of the Founding Declaration and guaranteed full equality and equality of the people and citizens of the Republic. The highest legal act of Republika Srpska, which with certain amendments is still in force today, was adopted before the outbreak of tragic conflicts and the unilateral Bosniak and Croat declaration of independence of BiH after the referendum held on March 1, which Serbs did not take part in.
