CVIJANOVIĆ: JASENOVAC CAMP INMATES LEFT TRUTH ABOUT JASENOVAC AS A LEGACY TO THEIR FELLOW COUNTRYMEN

EAST SARAJEVO, APRIL 22 /SRNA/ - Our sacred duty is to remember the victims of Jasenovac and protect Republika Srpska, which was created as a guarantee of our survival west of the Drina River, Serb member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović has stressed for SRNA.

"On this day, 80 years ago, the last group of inmates broke out of the Jasenovac death camp. Only one in ten, out of about 1,100 participants in the break-out, managed to see the light of day on the other side of the camp fence. The last Jasenovac camp inmates carried with them the most valuable thing they had, the testimonies of the unprecedented horrors that themselves and their countless fellow sufferers had gone through," said Cvijanović on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the breakout of the Jasenovac camp inmates, on this day in 1945. "They bequeathed to their compatriots and future generations the truth about Jasenovac and a vow that this kind of suffering will never happen again, neither to our people, nor to any other nation," Cvijanović said.
