SRPSKA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE MILITARY PARADE IN MOSCOW FOR THE FIRST TIME

EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 6 /SRNA/ - Five students from the East Ilidža High School Centre will attend the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, which is the first visit to that important event by students from Republika Srpska, professor Marina Blagojević told SRNA.

"Remembering the past and nurturing it is the basic task of a nation. During World War II, Serbs contributed to the fight against fascism on the side of the victors, and that's why this visit is important for the students," Blagojević emphasized. She said that in this way historical truths are preserved, historical events are respected and national identity is strengthened, and the relationship with society, collective memory, cultural-historical monuments and ceremonial festivities is developed. "Serbs are a people with a rich history, and the culture of remembrance is important for the survival and spiritual development of a nation," said Blagojević. Milica Macanović, a student of the East Ilidža High School Centre, told SRNA that she and her friends are extremely proud to be the first high school students in the history of Republika Srpska to attend the anniversary of the victory over fascism in Moscow. "For us students, this is an important visit, because it will deepen our image of the glorious victory of the allies," said Macanović. They will stay in Moscow at the invitation of the governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratyev, under the auspices of the mayor of East Sarajevo Ljubiša Ćosić.
