PRESIDENT DODIK DEMONSTRATED POLITICAL CONSISTENCY AND COMMITMENT TO PRESERVING DAYTON PEACE AGREEMENT
BANJA LUKA, MAY 21 /SRNA/ - Petar Jelić, an SNSD member of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, emphasized that in his address at today’s special session, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik once again proved his consistency in political positions and commitment to preserving everything achieved by the Dayton Peace Agreement and to peace, as well as his orientation toward dialogue and partnership.
“President Dodik today also provided answers to many questions, as well as reasons for opposing attempts to revise the Dayton Agreement, from the illegitimate High Representative to the unconstitutional judiciary and foreign interventionism, supported by certain domestic politicians,” Jelić told SRNA. The understanding of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the resolution of the constitutional and political crisis through dialogue among domestic elected politicians representing the will of the people, Jelić says, confirms that Milorad Dodik is a patriot who fights to preserve Dayton and the Dayton BiH, not someone who undermines the agreement. “Only a true patriot and experienced politician, who has the breadth of a genuine leader with a vision, can offer solutions that benefit Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, and the Dayton BiH. His demand to end the imposition of laws and acts by the High Representative in BiH has only one goal, to accelerate dialogue among BiH officials and for BiH to be a state community of three peoples and two entities in the true sense of the word,” emphasized Jelić. He added that despite pressures, sanctions, and very challenging times, President Dodik tirelessly fights, seeks solutions, and offers dialogue, democracy, and values that should be cherished everywhere in the world. “The address by President Dodik to the MPs, but also to all citizens of Republika Srpska, BiH, and the region, as well as to all partners and friends, confirms that he has no aspirations to rearrange BiH, and that any paranoid claims or allusions about his alleged undermining of the Dayton Agreement are absurd. President Dodik remains consistent with the letter of the Dayton Agreement and any possible modifications, but only through agreement and cooperation among the signatories of the Peace Agreement, not through imposition, illegal decrees, or decisions by foreigners. Milorad Dodik is not only a politician but, above all, a man of peace and dialogue, a man of this land and its people who sincerely and genuinely desires a better future where everyone is equal, and no one is outvoted or subordinated,” Jelić said.
