ĐOKIĆ: STRONGER REGIONAL COOPERATION NEEDED
BANJA LUKA, JUNE 13 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, stated today in Budva at the "EPCG NET 2025" Symposium that stronger regional cooperation and market integration are necessary for the energy transition.
Đokić particularly emphasized the importance of integrating regional electricity markets, which is a prerequisite for improving liquidity, efficiency, and security of supply, according to a press release from the relevant ministry. According to him, only connected markets and a coordinated approach can ensure greater stability in energy production and exchange, as well as the successful integration of renewable sources. Đokić emphasized that the energy systems in the region must be aligned with European regulations, but also stressed that the transition must be gradual, just, and focused on preserving stability and social security. He emphasized that new regulatory frameworks, such as the CBAM mechanism, pose serious challenges for energy-intensive industries and require an adequate response from both the state and the sector. Đokić also highlighted the need for investment in new capacities, especially in renewable energy sources, as well as in digitalization, automation, and strengthening of the grid. "Without an active role by the state and effective regional planning, it will not be possible to ensure sustainability, security of supply, and long-term competitiveness," Đokić emphasized. Regarding the symposium, Đokić stated that this is one of the most important professional gatherings in the region in the field of energy, bringing together representatives of electric power companies, institutions, experts, investors, and international partners. According to him, this year’s symposium focuses on topics such as the energy transition, the planning and financing of new production capacities, the modernization of the grid, the impact of the CBAM mechanism, and the role of the state in ensuring energy security and the sustainability of public energy companies. Đokić stated that the “EPCG NET 2025” Symposium represents an important platform for exchanging experiences and defining joint approaches in a time of major changes in the energy sector. "Republika Srpska remains committed to cooperation, investment, and the rational management of energy resources for the benefit of its citizens and the economy," Đokić said. The "EPCG NET 2025" Symposium is taking place this year in Budva, organized by the Electric Power Company of Montenegro.
