BRATUNAC, JULY 23 /SRNA/ – A memorial service will be held in Bratunac on Friday, July 25, for 20 Serbs from the settlement of Hranča killed during the Defensive-Patriotic War, marking 33 years since the attack on this village in which seven residents of Serbian nationality were killed near their homes.

Muslim forces from surrounding villages and Srebrenica entered the village of Hranča from several directions on July 25, 1992, killing Serb civilians at their homes. Hranča was surrounded by Muslim villages and was under complete encirclement when it was attacked. In Hranča, as well as in other villages around Srebrenica and Bratunac, Muslim military formations killed residents they encountered, looted movable property, and set fire to houses and other immovable property. Surviving villagers recount that the attack began around 3:30 p.m., shots were fired, and Muslim forces stormed into the village shouting and killing indiscriminately, yelling: "Catch them alive, save the ammunition." Seven residents were killed in their yards, while most managed to escape down the Glogovska riverbed towards Bratunac. No one has been held responsible for the killings of these Serb civilians. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. by the central memorial cross at the cemetery in Bratunac, after which delegations will lay flowers and pay tribute to the victims. Cases related to crimes against Serbs in central Podrinje, committed by Muslim units from Srebrenica under the command of Naser Orić, remain shelved in the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, even 33 years after the crime and nearly 30 years since the end of the war. The commemoration is organized by the Kravica Orthodox Church Parish and the Veterans' Organization from Bratunac.
