SELAK: NO LAW OR JUSTICE IN CIRCUMSTANCES OF INDIVIDUAL INTERVENTIONISM

TESLIĆ, OCTOBER 10 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Justice Minister Goran Selak warns there is no law or justice in situations where an individual re-tailors the people’s will, alters and suspends the FBiH Constitution, violates the laws of both BiH and Republika Srpska.
He says it is the duty of the legal profession to unite and stand in defence of Republika Srpska's competences. Selak, attending the October Law Days legal conference in Teslić, emphasized that this is an opportunity for the legal community to voice its views and unite in the defence of Republika Srpska's competencies. "Here we have people who wrote the laws, and those who interpret them. That's why it's important that we are united at a time when Republika Srpska is under attack, when the Constitution of BiH is being violated in Srpska, when laws are being amended not through parliamentary procedure, but by an individual whose decisions override the legal process and suspend constitutions," Selak told the press. Head of the Association of Republika Srpska Lawyers Vitomir Popović expects more than 400 legal professionals from different fields, judges, and prosecutors to participate in the event, noting that the general theme of this year's conference is the development and functioning of the legal system. "We will be able to directly discuss the problems affecting the legal order, the Dayton-based BiH, and various legal fields, because those who apply the law will have their say here," said Popović. He noted that 50 academic papers will be presented at the conference. The event is also attended by the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education, Siniša Karan, who is also a professor of constitutional law. The conference is organised around four academic panels. The first addresses constitutional, state, and gender-related legal topics. The second focuses on civil law, the third on commercial and international law, and the fourth on criminal law. The October Law Days conference is of republic-level importance and includes international participation. It is being held at the Kardial Hotel in Banja Vrućica and will end tomorrow.
