VASIĆ: "PATRIOTS" ONCE AGAIN SHOW THEIR TRUE USTASHA COLORS
ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 4 /SRNA/ – Sociologist from Istočno Sarajevo Vladimir Vasić assessed that the Croatian extremists, by disrupting the program of the Days of Serbian Culture in Split, once again demonstrated their fascist tendencies and determination to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors steeped in the blood of Jasenovac martyrs.
"The so-called `patriots` have once again shown and proven in action their sincere affection for fascism. It seems that they have thoroughly mastered the infamous ideology of Mile Budak, since they apply it wholeheartedly and eagerly whenever the opportunity arises," Vasić told SRNA. He pointed out that last night's incident in Split was not an isolated case and stressed that a part of the population in Croatia exhibits a high degree of progressive metastasis of hatred, deeply rooted in individuals always ready to shout - `For the Homeland!`. "For years now, in their so-called `beautiful homeland,` which is now a European bride, tensions have been systematically fuelled through almost every segment of society - from media and politics, through educational institutions and the Church, to culture and music. And for them, apparently, that is normal," said Vasić, who also serves as an expert associate for material resources at the Rectorate of the University of Istočno Sarajevo. According to him, when there is infernal orgy of followers of the Ustasha ideology accompanied by Nazi iconography and symbols, it should come as no surprise that hatred has once again become omnipresent among the population in Croatia — now under the guise of freedom of expression, European values, democracy and tolerance. Vasić assesses that the attack on the culture and national identity of a people is not, in this case, merely an assault on the Serbs and their small community, but a terrorist act directed against freedom and civilisation itself. "A society that tolerates Ustasha-style, maniacal rampage of individuals while fearing Serbian folklore and cultural programs has a serious problem with its own identity and moral compass. The perpetrators of violence have never been brave people - on the contrary, they are frightened individuals who can release all their misery and bitterness only within a frenzied crowd," Vasić stated. A group of about a hundred men dressed in black, most of them masked, interrupted last night’s program of the Days of Serbian Culture in Split, insulting participants on a national basis and shouting the Ustasha salute `For the Homeland - Ready!`
