ŠULIĆ: RECORD-BREAKING WINTER SEASON EXPECTED
JAHORINA, DECEMBER 11 /SRNA/ – Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska Denis Šulić said that a record-breaking winter season is expected on Jahorina, as the mountain offers excellent skiing conditions and a variety of activities for all generations.
At a press conference marking the official opening of the winter season on Jahorina, Šulić said that the slopes are excellently prepared, skiing has been underway for 10 days already, and guests are arriving from all over the world, especially from Republika Srpska. "In the past two years we have been listening to the needs of tourists visiting this mountain, which is why we introduced a 50% discount on ski passes during the ‘Ski Opening’. These benefits are being followed by hoteliers and hospitality providers as well. We want to present our Olympic beauty as a place where citizens of Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, the region, Europe, and the world are all welcome," Šulić emphasized. He added that he is particularly pleased by information received from several hotel owners that accommodation capacities on Jahorina were fully booked in the first days of the season, and that reservations for January and February are progressing very well. "If the weather conditions serve us well, we can expect more than 100 skiing days on Jahorina," Šulić said, adding that such a result will significantly contribute to the overall tourism indicators, and that this season is expected to be a record one. According to him, in the first 10 months of this year there were about 25,000 more overnight stays compared to the previous year. "We expect that, with a good December season and the vouchers we offered, the number of overnight stays will increase even further. This will confirm for the fourth year in a row that tourism is the only economic sector in Republika Srpska showing continuous growth," Šulić emphasized.
