HOPE THAT AMERICAN INVESTIGATORS WILL LAUNCH FAIR INVESTIGATION INTO SUFFERING OF SERBS
ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JULY 20 /SRNA/ - President of the Republic Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, Isidora Graorac, expressed hope that the arrival of American investigator-prosecutors in Derventa marks the beginning of an investigation that will finally lead to court proceedings and that the perpetrators of the horrific crimes against Serbs will be held accountable.
Graorac stressed that everything the Serb people had witnessed through the Hague Tribunal, as well as the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, had not inspired confidence in judicial institutions. She told SRNA that, in more than 30 years, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH had not deemed it necessary to deal with crimes committed against Serbs during the past war in the camp for Serbs in Derventa. "And today we have the news that investigators from America have come to question people who were held in that camp, who survived horrific torture, and who will testify today about everything that happened," Graorac said. She said that she wants to believe this is only the beginning of what should follow, namely, that those responsible for crimes committed against the Serb people will end up in the dock. Graorac expressed confidence that what is happening today in Derventa will extend to all other sites of suffering and places where innocent Serbian blood was shed. American investigator-prosecutors arrived in Derventa, where former Serb camp inmates began testifying about the horrors they endured in the notorious camp for Serbs at the Rabić military warehouse in 1992. During the past war, before the Army of Republika Srpska had even been formed, Croatian and Muslim forces attacked the local Serb population in Derventa. Camps for Serbs were established, the most notorious of which were those at the Army Hall and the Rabić site.
