VIRTUAL REALITY TAKES PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO SERBIAN HOLY SITES IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

BELGRADE, JULY 24 /SRNA/ - Serbia is using the most advanced technologies to bring the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Serbian people closer to the world, especially that of Kosovo and Metohija, because this is the best way to present what it has preserved for centuries, said Arnaud Gouillon, director of the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy.

Gouillon, who is leading the Virtual Reality /VR/ Project on behalf of the Office, stressed that through this experience, visitors can step inside Serbian monasteries, learn about their history, and uniquely experience the beauty of Serbia. The Virtual Reality Project uses state-of-the-art VR technology to bring Serbia's centuries-old cultural and spiritual heritage closer to audiences around the world. Users wearing VR headsets can explore the interiors of monasteries, learn about their history and the artistic value of their frescoes in a 360-degree format, creating a sense of real presence. This form of digital diplomacy was created to change the image of Serbia in the world and build cultural bridges with geographically distant nations. Gouillon said that the project has already been presented in Japan and that the goal is for it to continue its journey around the world. "We believe that the best way to present Serbia is through its culture, history and universal values that connect us. When people see Serbia with their own eyes, they will understand why we love it so much and why we safeguard it," Gouillon wrote in a post on Facebook.
