EBOLA CASES EXCEED 3,000
KINSHASA, JULY 26 /SRNA/ – The number of Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has exceeded 3,000, the country's authorities announced.
According to the same source, the virus has been confirmed in 3,075 people. Of those, 1,354 have died, 556 have recovered, and 755 patients are currently in isolation or receiving treatment in hospital. The outbreak has now been recorded in five provinces. The authorities said that research is underway to develop a vaccine against the Bundibugyo strain of the virus, which caused the current outbreak of the deadly disease, the Baha news portal reported. On May 17, the World Health Organization /WHO/ declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo a public health emergency of international concern, warning that it posed a threat to other countries.
